Director of Data Science at One Concern

My Background

I am the Director of Data Science at One Concern, where I lead the team responsible for all AI efforts on One Concern platform. My team focuses on building algorithms and models to capture possible impacts caused by natural hazards such as earthquake, wildfire, and floods. In the face of a catastrophe, governments should not be rendered helpless. The loss of some lives may be unavoidable, but every life matters and we at One Concern believe that many more lives can and will be saved in the next disaster. At One Concern, we build the tools to provide new insights to governments and companies mitigate and be prepared for such unavoidable events.

Before One Concern, I was the co-founder and CTO at Datmo working on versioning and deployment tools for Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists where we provided our solution to industries from finance and gaming. Over the course of my journey at Datmo, I worked on large-scale indexing over images and videos for multi-media search and offered these as APIs to enterprise users. Followed by that, we repurposed the internal tooling as a product for customers to deploy, monitor and manage algorithms at scale. Given strong synergies with One Concern's AI technology and its noble mission, Datmo joined forces with One Concern.

I received my masters from Stanford, where I worked with Silvio Savarese on Convolutional Neural Network architectures and their applications in object tracking in the Stanford AI Lab and was the teaching assistant for Andrew Ng in CS229.

Background & Expertise

Director of Data Science at One Concern

I lead a team of over twenty talented data scientists to build One Concern's AI platform for Seismic, Floods and Fire hazards. My team builds the models to empower the AI platform to provide insights to help governments and private companies to plan and be more resilient to catastrophic events.

Co-founder and CTO, Datmo

2016 - 2019

We provided tools for AI model deployment, and a/b testing tool for Data Scientists and ML Engineers. We raised $1.1m from investors such as Pear Ventures and Angellist. Achieved success for clients in FinTech and Gaming Industry. Datmo joined One Concern through team acquisition

Researcher and Teaching Assistant at Stanford University

Worked with Silvio Savarese on Deep Learning application for Computer Vision to detect and track multiple objects in a video. Algorithm was deployed and being used for Bioresearch. Had been the Teaching Assistant to Andrew Ng for CS 229 course taken by over 800 students
